Tre Kronor

Den svenskflaggade briggen "Tre Kronor" besökte Vasa och då vädret var fint samlades en hel del folk för att beundra det ståtliga fartyget. Vi gick ombord för att stilla vår nyfikenhet och cyklade sedan ut till segelföreningen för att se på då de lyfte upp båtar på land inför vintern. Jag har nu drabbats av akut seglingsfeber och bokar troligen nästa vecka flyg ner till Grekland.

"Tre Kronor" (Tree crowns) from Sweden visited Vasa and a lot of people had gathered in the inner harbour to admire this magnificent ship. We went onboard and looked curiously around before we continued to the sailing club were we could watch yachts get lifted out of the water for the winter season. Sailing fever has struck again and I´ll probably have to reserve a ticket to Greece next week.  

Back in Finland

Resan hem gick bra. Patsy gjorde ett rymningsförsök på flygplatsen i Riga men vi lyckades ta fast henne innan hon hann försvinna. Katterna verkar glada att vara hemma. Jackie måste fortfarande tvångsmatas men äter ibland helt själv. Vi har tagit nytt blodprov men ingen förbättring av blodvärdena har skett. Vi har därför ändrat hennes medicinering en aning. Hoppas att den nya medicinen fungerar bättre.

We are home. Patsy tried to escape at the airport of Riga but we managed to catch her before she got too far. The cats are happy to be back home. Jackie still has to be force-fed but is sometimes eating by herself. We took a new blood sample but there has been no improvement since the last one. We have therefore made a minor change in her medication. We hope that the new medicin works better.

Life in Greece

Vi trivs bra i Grekland och det finns knappast någon bättre plats på jorden att segla på. Hur vinden än blåser finns det hamnar och öar inom bekvämt avstånd i alla vädersträck. Byarna är mysiga, människorna är glada och trevliga, maten är god och inte alls särskilt dyr. Nu börjar temperaturerna bli lite behagligare än mitt på sommaren och det sägs att september är den bästa månaden att vistas här. Vi håller med men de övriga 11 månaderna om året är inte så tokiga de heller.

We love Greece and there are no better place on the earth for sailing. Whatever the direction of the wind is there are plenty of harbours and anchorages within a close distance in every direction. The villages are cosy, the people here are very nice and friendly, the food is delicious and inexpensive. Now the temperatures are less hot and they say that september is the best month to be here. We agree but the other 11 months are not that bad either.

Jackie is feeling better!

Efter en kostsam ultraljuds undersökning i Athen och efter en omfattande medicinering är Jackie tillbaka ombord. Hon har börjat äta igen och framtiden ser åter ljusare ut för det lilla djuret. Ännu har vi inte vågat öppna champangeflaskan men det verkar som att hon snabbt blir friskare och är glad att ha blivit utskriven från djursjukhuset. Vi har lämnat vår fina förtöjningsplats och flyttat in till stadskajen. Vi betalar nu 5 euro per natt men har närmare till alla bekvämligheter. (Bilderna är från gratisbryggan)

Jackie is back onboard after an expensive ultrasound examination in Athens and after taking some medication. She is eating again and the future looks brighter for the poor cat. We have not yet dared open the champange-bottle but it seems that she is recovering fast and she is happy to have left the animal hospital. We have changed our from our free-mooring place to the city quai. Now we have to pay 5 euro a night but we are closer to the city centre. (Pictures are from the free-mooring)

Still in Aigina

Jackies levervärden är katastrofalt dåliga och hon vägrar fortfarande att äta. Vi hälsar på henne på djursjukhuset två gånger om dagen. Vi vet ännu inte när vi kan segla vidare. En dag hyrde vi bil och körde runt ön. Här finns en del intressanta ruiner och kloster och på östra sidan av ön har man de finaste stränderna. På helgerna är ön full av besökare från Athen men vi har hittat ett lugnt hörn i hamnen innanför vågbrytaren där vi dessutom får ligga gratis.

Jackies testresaults where a disappointment and she still refuses to eat. We see her twice daily in the animal hospital. We still do not know when we can sail on. We rented a car one day and drowe around the island. There are some interesting ruins and monestarys and on the eastern side of the island there are nice beaches. At the weekends the island is packed with visitors from Athens but we found a quiet spot in the harbour inside the breakwater where we can stay for free.

Animal hospital Aigina

Jackie har inte haft samma aptit som hemma och en dag upptäckte vi att hon slutat äta nästan helt. Vi uppsökte veterinär i Aigina och katten fick genast dropp och har stannat på djursjukhuset över natten. Vi väntar på svar från blodprovet och hoppas på det bästa.

Jackie has not had the same apetite as at home and one day we discovered that she did hardly eat anything at all. We went to see a veterinary in Aigina and she had to stay the night at the animal hospital. We are waiting for the resault of her blood sample and keep hoping for the best.
