Earthquake

I just went to bed when I heard a noice and felt the boat moving. I jumped out of bed and out on deck to try to see what had happened. It was calm and quiet and I started to think that it was the neighbour that made the sound. Today I heard that it was an earthquake that was felt all over Kalamata.

On dry land

Finally Martha is up on solid ground surrounded by a lot of other sailingboats. It is now more trouble to enter onboard, first I have to climb a ladder to get up into the cockpit. I wonder if I will be able to sleep when the boat is not moving and when no mooring lines are making any noise. I been living totally about 7,5 months abord Martha this year. We have sailed 2.270 miles since we left Barcelona in april.

ARC 2011

Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) startar i morgon den 20 november.
Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) starts tomorrow the 20 of november. Approx 200 sailboats starts from Gran Canaria and finishes 2-3 weeks later in St Lucia, caribia. Unfortunatly Martha is not participating this year, but the winter here in the mediterranean really makes you wish you were heading to the south. Maybe next year. The race you can follow on www.worldcruising.com/ARC.

Lifting Martha

I have sailed enough for this year and it is time to lift Martha out of the water. We will lift her at 12.00 on monday and there are work that has to be done before that. I also have to finish all the food we have since I heard that there are plenty of hungry rats in the harbour. The sun has been shining during the daytime and I have been able to do some work on deck only wearing shorts. But at the same time the locals has walked by wearing their winter jackets and we have staired in surprise at eachother. The evenings are colder and I have the heater on all night.

Kalamata

I had just turned off my computer when a fishingboat turned up and put their nets next to our boat. When the wind turned and picked up we had their nets just next to us. Next morning the net was gone and we sailed on to Kalamata. According to my calculations we have sailed about 340 miles during the last two weeks.

Limeni

We had problems to anchor in Port Kayio yesterday. Some fishermen had put their nets all over the anchorage. Nothing was marked so it was only pure luck that we spotted the nets before anchoring. To keep the anchorchain clear from the nets we had to put out a second anchor. Today we went by engine most of the distance to Limeni. When we were about to drop the anchor we spotted..a fishingnet! We moved to the other side of the harbour and anchored in 10 meters depth. Lets see what we get on the hook tomorrow..
